Three industry sectors created nearly new 20,000 jobs over the past five years, led by Health Services
Observations:
- Health Services, Professional and Business Services and Manufacturing combined created 19,400 new jobs since 2019
- Healthcare was strongest, responsible for more than 75% of the new jobs
- Manufacturing employment is up 1,900 jobs in the last five years, currently at its highest total since early 2016
- Leisure & hospitality sector has seen greater job losses than any other statewide industry
- 62% of this decline has occurred in the New Orleans Metro
