35 Indicators that measure the wellbeing of Louisiana
How do we know if we are making progress if we don’t try to measure it? The Louisiana Fact Book: Facts for the Future is an online resource that seeks to do just that. Better Louisiana has developed a list of 35 indicators in five key issue areas focusing on the overall well-being of the state. Updated for 2025, the Fact Book empowers Louisianans with data about the state, as it is.
Each indicator comes with an individual data point, an explanation of why it’s important, and an arrow showing if the state has improved or declined over the previous year. Each data point is supplemented with a corresponding note that provides additional background and recent trends.
When viewed collectively, these indicators paint a picture of our state that can help us assess the progress we’re making and challenges we are facing, to help us set priorities to create a better Louisiana.
