Michael has served as Foundation President and as Director of Community Relations since 2015, having served previously as Exec Dir of Teach For America in South Louisiana, as a teacher in New York City and as a non-profit consultant. In a normal year Michael oversees $3.5M+ in giving and supports hundreds of community volunteering and health focused efforts. Since the beginning of 2020, the BCBSLA Foundation increased its giving to $13M+, convened Louisiana’s first state-wide funders coalition and led on numerous other projects all aimed at improving the health and lives of people in Louisiana during this uniquely challenging time.
