Our 2nd annual statewide gathering for Leadership Louisiana alumni and Better Louisiana’s network becomes part of the inaugural LegisGator 2026 during the week of August 19–21 at L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles.
The progress we’re seeing across Louisiana — from leading the nation in reading growth to adding nearly 23,000 jobs last year — has the state commanding new attention. The question now is how we sustain that momentum and turn early gains into long-term prosperity. That’s the conversation we’re convening on Thursday, August 20, 2026, when Leaders for a Better Louisiana hosts the Future Louisiana: Ideas for Leadership Conference in Lake Charles.
Future Louisiana is built around a simple premise: practical ideas, not abstract theories. The full-day conference at L’Auberge Casino Resort brings together nationally recognized thought leaders in community development, energy, and career-centered education with Louisiana’s business and civic leaders. Through keynote conversations and interactive tracks, attendees will explore bold policy approaches and proven strategies from other states, the kind of real-world success stories that can inform Louisiana’s next chapter on workforce readiness, innovation, and sustainable growth.
Future Louisiana is part of something bigger. In partnership with the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance and LABI, the three-day LegisGator 2026 will be the largest business, civic, legislative, and policy gathering in Louisiana during the legislative session. It opens August 19 with the LABI Policy Forum, features Future Louisiana on August 20, and concludes with the 21st annual LegisGator Luncheon on August 21, the perfect anchor event for this statewide gathering. Because of its incredible legacy and success, we think this has the potential to feel like the scale of DC Mardi Gras, but right here at home in Louisiana.
For alumni of Leadership Louisiana, this is also a homecoming. With more than 1,600 alumni now across the state, a key part of Future Louisiana is reconnecting our network and reengaging that collective focus on the future. The conference opens Wednesday evening, August 19, with a joint welcome reception for all the event partners. We’re also inviting our alumni to coordinate reunion dinners around Lake Charles on the 19th or 20th to rebuild the connections that have always made Leadership Louisiana such a valuable statewide community.
We’re at a moment when the data points in the right direction, but – as the recent election’s results showed on the constitutional amendments – the work ahead is real. The decisions we make now — on quality of life, workforce, energy, education, and overall economic competitiveness — will shape whether this progress becomes Louisiana’s defining story of the decade. Future Louisiana is where leaders from every region of the state come together to make that conversation sharper and more actionable.
We hope you’ll make plans to join us for three days in Lake Charles this August. Registration, room block details, and full event details are available at LegisGator.org or https://betterla.org/events/future-la-conference/.
