The state grew by 24,000 people in 2024, turning positive for the first time in six years.

The biggest change driving this positive net in-migration was a significant decrease in out-migration, hitting its lowest level since 2010 and about 17,000 below the 2023 total.
Young families – kids under 18 and adults age 25-34 – represented the two largest age groups moving into Louisiana.
